A recent rash of letters to the editor and scuttlebutt around town about what the paper should and should not report about prompts this question: In those wonderful days of old, when all was sublime, not only did the Meeker Herald print out a weekly police report listing arrests made, warrants given, and accidents responded to, the paper covered other, more personal activities. Like who ended up in the hospital and why. Which families or individuals took trips out of town and who they saw there. And even published a list of everyone who bought a new car at any of the local county dealers. Interesting how our definitions of privacy are subject to change with the times, isn’t it?
