According to a survey by the American Research Group, Inc., Americans will spend an average of $431 on Christmas gifts this year. It’s the lowest level of planned spending since 1991, and it’s down 50 percent from last year, and down from a whopping $1,052 in 2001.
Cleaning out to make room for new stuff? Visit www.freecycle.org for a way to give away items you don’t want to take time to sell and don’t want to throw out. The closest connection is the Glenwood-New Castle loop. A Rangely participant gave away several large aquariums a couple weeks ago. Someone else’s trash just might be the ideal Christmas present for that hard-to-shop-for person on your list!
