MEEKER — Kevin O’Connor of Meeker was arrested Oct. 31 after more than 19 grams of suspected methamphetamine was found in his vehicle, along with a large amount of cash and an illegal knife.
O’Connor was booked into the Rio Blanco County Jail on the following felony and misdemeanor charges: unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, carrying a concealed weapon and traffic charges.
Meeker Police Officer Jeremy Muxlow stopped O’Connor at about 5 p.m. in the 500 block of Main Street.
“Officer Muxlow did a cursory search … and found what appeared to be illegal narcotics …” according to a police news release. “A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up more drugs that tested positive for methamphetamine.”
During the traffic stop, another Meeker officer, Jim Amick and his police dog, Gino, were called to the scene. The dog’s response alerted Amick there were drugs inside the vehicle.
