Meeker man killed in I-70 rollover accident

MEEKER I Johnathon C. Wix 21, died in a rollover accident Sunday, May 13 on Interstate 70, near Palisade, Colo.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, Wix was westbound in the right hand lane near the Palisade exit when the 2002 Toyota Camry he was driving drifted into the left lane and hit a 1999 Nissan Ultima driven by Carlson Nevin, 20, of Fort Collins.
After colliding with the Ultima, Wix’s vehicle traveled back across the right lane and rolled two-and-a-half times off I-70 at mile marker 42.
The CPS public information officer said Wix, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected during the rollover and pronounced dead at the scene. Wix’s passenger Anthony Merritt, 21, was wearing a seat belt and was treated for minor injuries at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. Nevin was not injured in the accident.
Results from the Mesa County Coroner’s toxicology report were not complete.
