MEEKER I The winners of the Meeker Fourth of July Range Call Parade and of the Meeker Plein Art Competition have been announced by the Meeker Chamber of Commerce.
The parade announcer was Joseph Cardile, there were a record number of entries in this year’s parade, and thanks go out to the many volunteers who worked many hours to keep the parade tradition alive.
Fourth of July “Cowboy Pride” Parade Winners:
Best of Show (Cowboy Pride Theme): White River Dental;
Most Creative: Paddle Up Colorado;
Judges Choice: Meeker Pageant Braves;
People’s Choice: Meeker High School Band; and
Best Car: Steven Brickey, 1954 Peterbuilt truck, pulling a 1955 trailer.
Meeker Plein Air Art Winners:
Best of Show: “Meeker Drug” by Evie Huhta of Montrose, Colo.
2nd Place: “Overlook of the White River” by Linda Dallandre of Montgomery, Texas.
3rd Place: “On the Other Side” by Nancy Lewis of Palisade, Colo.
Honorable Mention: “Catching a Little Shade” by Pat Sheeran-Daggett of Meeker.
Honorable Mention: “Colorado Rocks” by Linda Dallandre of Montgomery, Texas.
People’s Choice Award: Pat Daggett for her painting “View of the Valley.”

This year’s event had a record number of paintings entered and new artists competing. There were many positive comments regarding how beautiful the area is and how welcoming the people are.
