Meeker, Rangely peewee wrestlers compete

Cade Blunt of Meeker was all smiles, even on his back.MEEKER I The annual Casey Turner Memorial peewee wrestling tournament will be Saturday at Meeker High School, with the morning session beginning at 9.
Meeker peewee wrestlers have competed in three tournaments so far this season, including a tournament in Hayden last Saturday, in preparation of hosting their own this week.
Thirty-four Meeker wrestlers traveled to Hayden and 25 placed in the top four, including eight champions. Wyatt Pfau, Casey Turner, Sheridan Harvey, Ivette Ayala, Caleb Bradford, Zane Pfau, Kelton Harvey and James Amick won their respective weights.But he got his arm raised ...
Jacob Pelloni, Anna Castle, Joshua Cochran, Dillon Frantz, Aaron Cochran and Tannen Kennedy finished as runners-up.
Kale Burke, Doak Mantle, Austin Purcell, Ashton Seibert, Colton Wille, Kesston Hobbs, Ty Goedert and Tevin Pelloni won consolation championships, while Garret Frantz, Toni Edwards and Jeffery Cole placed fourth.
Kascia Cochran, Daylon, Cody and Kaleb Nielsen, Cody Purcell, Tony Portillo, Tanner Ridgeway and Trae Kennedy wrestled but did not palce.
The annual Casey Turner Memorial will run two sessions, with the 8, 6 and four-and-under beginning at 9 a.m. with 14, 12 and 10-and-under starting at 1 p.m.And he won a medal.

RANGELY I Seventeen youth wrestlers from Rangely competed last week at the tournament in Hayden, with nine placing.
Marsten Wagner, Karver Lopez and Hunter Hanvey placed first for Rangely. Bryon Mackey placed second, and Dontea Pearce, Brody McElhaney, Tytus Coombs, Anthony Martin and Tristen Rohn placed third. Also wrestling but not placing were Sam Tucker, Corbin Lucero, Brandon Willis, Dalton Dembowski, CJ Lucero, Grady Nielsen and Troy Allred. Lucas Heinle wrestled some exhibition matches to finish out the day.
“All of the young men are improving with every practice and tournament,” said coach Jeff Heinle.
Rangely wrestlers will travel to Meeker for a tournament on Saturday.
