Meeker Rec Center news: October 2, 2008

MEEKER – The Aqua Volleyball League for ages 16 and older will be on Wednesdays, Oct. 1-Nov. 5, from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $50 per 4-8 person team. A $10 late fee will be assessed for registrations made after Oct. 1. Only one person (the captain or a designated player) can/should register the whole team. Individuals without a team may leave their contact information with guest services for inclusion on, or formation of, a team.
n Ballet dance class will be on Thursdays, Oct. 2-Oct. 30. Students ages 9-13 will meet from 4:45 – 5:45 p.m.; students ages 14 – adult will have class from 6-7 p.m. Cost is $15.
n The following fitness classes begin the week of Sept. 29: H2O Blast, Aqua Tone, Poolates, Senior Splash, Steppin’ Strong and Core Concepts. Details can be found online, in the activities brochure and by calling 878-3403. All classes are drop-in. You may join at any time. Cost is $4 per class with punch-passes available for a reduced per class rate.
n Swim lessons for all ages will be held Oct. 7-30. Call, click, come-in or check the brochure for details.
n Registration for swim lessons requires a placement card to be presented at the time of registration. Students without a card can attend a free skill evaluation session on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 5-6:30 p.m. Call 878-3403 with questions or for more information.
n Road to Wellness, Oct. 20-23 from 6:45-7:45 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the MRC will be conducted by MRC certified fitness instructors. Many topics important to overall fitness and a healthy lifestyle including nutrition and stress management will be emphasized. Cost is $10 for the four days.
n Ladies’ Night Out at the pool will be Oct. 19 from 5-6 p.m. For $3 ladies age 21 and older can enjoy all the natatorium amenities without kids or guys. (Memberships do not cover the cost of this program.)
n Family Night Out, sponsored by Meeker Sand and Gravel, will be Sunday, Oct. 26 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. All family members are invited to enjoy the fun of the center for free. There will be a maximum of 75 people admitted; all fitness room and pool guidelines will apply. The Tot Spot child-sitting area will not be open.
