MEEKER — Possibly the best small-town recreation center in Colorado, the Meeker Recreation Center (MRC) opened its doors one year ago on Jan. 12, 2008.
Those visiting the center frequently make comments such as, “I can’t believe we have this in Meeker,” “This is better than the recreation center where we live (Centennial, Colo.),” and “This will be so good for our kids (a school board member).”
Patrons have used the MRC swimming pool, fitness room, tot spot and fitness classes approximately 40,000 times in the past year. These numbers do not include participation in recreation programs such as dance and After School Mania which are held at the center. During the first year, nearly 500 membership passes were purchased.
To thank the community for providing and supporting the Meeker Recreation Center, the ERBM Rec. and Park District would like to invite everyone to use the center for free on Monday, Jan. 12 from 5 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Enjoy refreshments and take the opportunity to register to win a one year free membership.
This fall the display for the memorial bricks was completed. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out on the 12th — if there isn’t too much snow.
