MEEKER I Meeker VFW Post No. 5843, enabled through several generous donations, has purchased the former First Federal Savings and Loan bank building at 290 Fourth St. in Meeker. The building will be the new home of the VFW post and the Meeker Lions Club.
The Meeker Lions Club meets each Tuesday at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.
The VFW Post and Ladies Auxiliary meet on the second Monday of each month— beginning Feb. 9—at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and meetings.
Both organizations have the mutual goal of community service providing many scholarships to our students, patriotic education and veteran assistance. The new home will facilitate the meetings and provide a warm and welcoming environment.
Sometime during the summer, both organizations will hold an open house for the public, VFW Post Cmdr. David Cole said.
