MEEKER | The Cowboy cross country team traveled to Kremmling last weekend, a great opportunity for the high school to compete. The course was new for the Cowboys and the newly formed meet is in its second year at West Grand.
“I thought the times were good, considering the terrain, we continue to see improvements, and are excited to see how our team improves as the season progresses,” commented head coach Marty Casey.
The boys placed in the middle of the pack fifth out of nine schools. Leading the way was Shane Kobald with a time of 21 minutes 38 seconds, he placed 21st out of 63 participants. Gabe Richardson and Ashdon Seibert followed coming in at 21:59 and 22:13.
The girls had 10 schools competing and they placed eighth and were competing against 66 others. Brigton Bair, coming in 30th, with a time of 25 minutes 12 seconds was the first lady Cowboy across the line. Rylee Butler, immediately followed by Gwyn Hooks, crossed with a time just over 28:35.
Cross country will be traveling to the Gypsum Creek Golf Course on Saturday for the Eagle Valley Invitational, and the Barone Middle School runners will be joining. The middle school race is at 8:30 a.m. and high school races begin at 10 a.m.
