MEEKER | Thirty-five wrestlers from the Meeker Community Youth Wrestling Club opened the season in Craig during Spring Break, competing in the Bad Dog tournament. More than 70 young wrestlers have signed up for the program this year and this week they will wrestle in Hayden.
“We did well for our first tournament and only having four practices prior to wrestling in the tournament,” Meeker youth coach Carl Padilla said.
Cade Blunt wrestled and won two brackets, Snowden Williams and Casey Brink also won their individual brackets, while Hoyt Garcia finished second in his.
Cole Williams, Gavin Allen, Tucker Chinn, Bow Muxlow and Ben Houser were all consolation champs, while Brig Williams, Kaden Ridgeway, Eli Rundberg, Anthony Johns, Dayton Ridgeway, William Foster, Clay Randall, Damon Scott and Brendan Clatterbaugh all finished fourth.
Savanah Petrocco, Pete Houser, Dexter Chinn, Logan Selby, Levi Petrocco, Cole Nay, Alaric O’Dell, Samantha Johns, Wil Schwartz, Thomas Curry, Falon Gilbert, Tanner Goodwin, Jasmine Long and Robert Foster all competed but did not place.
