According to his mom, Teresa, her youngest son, Lane, has been riding and “swinging a rope since he was three, and his first actual rodeo on his own began as a six-year-old.”
Lane competed in the Wyoming Junior High School Rodeos in May, which are held in conjunction with high school rodeos, and he won the 2015 Wyoming State Boys’ breakaway roping, which qualified him for the National Finals in Iowa.
The young cowboy also rodeos with the Colorado Little Britches Rodeo Association, at the Carbondale weekly rodeo and many local rodeos and jackpots, participating in the boys breakaway roping, the boys’ goat tying and he team ropes with his sister, Ellie.
“Lane works relentlessly to be successful, practicing every day until dark after school and he ropes the dummy when he isn’t in the arena,” his mom said. “Lane loves to cowboy; when he is not at a rodeo or practicing for one, he loves to do ‘cowboy day work’ for the local ranches around.
“He hopes to rodeo professionally and ranch when he grows up,” Teresa Anderson said. “In the off season, if Lane doesn’t have a rope in his hand, he has a basketball or football. He loves all sports.”
Lane competes in all of his events on Cactus, an eight-year-old red dun quarter horse and he is thankful to Dee, Vicky, Deena and Cynda Norell for all their support and coaching.
