Highland Cemetery in Meeker was a busy and colorful place on Monday as family and the VFW had decorated many of the graves. The VFW placed American flags on the graves of former service members and the Stars and Stripes were in wide evidence throughout the property.

Above is the memorial in Meeker’s Highland Cemetery that is dedicated to those who fought in the U.S. Armed Forces. At the foot of the memorial is the traditional wreath that should remind of us of the unknown and known troops who have given their lives during military service to America. The wreath was laid at the foot of the memorial by Pete Kiser, a long-time resident of Meeker and a U.S. military veteran.
