MEEKER — The Meeker High School golf team ended their season after three golfers competed in the state-qualifying regional tournament, recently held in Aspen.
Freshman Trey Morris missed qualifying for the state tournament, which will be held in Elizabeth, Colo., by one stroke.
Morris, junior Garett Griffin and senior Clinton Kilduff all played in the regional tournament. Morris finished 12th, one stroke and one place from qualifying for the state tournament, with a score of 96. Griffin was 19th with a 99 and Kilduff finished 35th, with a score of 127.
The Meeker trio, along with teammates Evan Edwards, Quinn Shoemaker and Charlie Scherbarth, recently combined for a great round of golf in Rangely prior to the regional tournament and beat Durango by one stroke to win the team championship.
Morris and Griffin both shot an 81, while Edwards shot an 86, Shoemaker an 88, Scherbarth a 99 and Kilduff finished with a gross score of 103.
