MEEKER I An 18-year-old Meeker High School senior was arrested Jan. 12 and charged with selling marijuana to minors.
Johnny Wix is scheduled to have his first court appearance Friday at the Rio Blanco County Courthouse.
Wix was arrested during the school day after being summoned to the principal’s office. Wix was released the same day with a bond of $75,000.
He is charged with one count of “transferring or dispensing” marijuana to a person under 18, three counts of “transferring or dispensing” marijuana to a person under 15, six counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two counts of distribution/sale/possession with intent to sell marijuana. All of the charges are felonies and carry a possible prison sentence of two to six years.
The dates when Wix allegedly “dispensed and sold marijuana” were Nov. 21, Nov. 24 and Dec. 9.
In addition, on Dec. 19, Wix was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of “driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or both.” The report said “1.156 ounces of marijuana were seized from the interior of Wix’s vehicle.”
Included in the Jan. 12 arrest warrant, filed by Officer Jeremy Muxlow of the Meeker Police Department, were copies of photos taken from Wix’s MySpace page.
“It should be noted that Wix’s MySpace account is not set to private and anyone with a valid MySpace account can view the pictures Wix has for display,” Muxlow said in the arrest warrant.
One of the photos, reportedly taken in the art room at the high school, shows Wix holding $100 bills in both hands. Another photo shows him “smoking an unknown substance out of a Dr. Pepper can.”
Muxlow said in the affidavit he “believes these pictures are consistent with a party involved in distribution, possession and consumption of illegal narcotics.”
