April 17-19 was an inspiring weekend of competition, recognition, and making new friends for the Meeker High School FCCLA members who attended the 2019 Colorado State Conference. Taking place in Denver, members had opportunities to interact with students from around the state and showcase the leadership skills they developed throughout the year. Meeker High School brought 13 students to this conference and experienced all the conference activities. From state officers hosting through all the general sessions, advocating for family and consumer sciences with Colorado legislators, to the outside speakers who came to share their leadership tips and hints, students were able to gain valuable leadership skills from this conference.
On Thursday, all the hard work the chapter put into competitive events finally paid off; it was competition day. Meeker High School students competed in nine different events. Awards for their achievements were given Friday and every Meeker High School competitor received a medal. First and second place gold winners will have the opportunity to attend the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, June 30-July 4. Meeker High School FCCLA is ready to continue on its FCCLA journey with the ultimate leadership experience.
