MEEKER I The Meeker High School girls’ volleyball team wrapped up an impressive season this past weekend at the regional tournament.

The team would have loved to advance to the state tournament, but the scores should not take away from the accomplishments of the team’s season.
The team finished among the top teams in the league and won big matches advancing them to the regional tournament in the first place.
Janae Stansworth said of her first year as head coach, “The girls had a great season this year and worked hard to get as far as they did.”
She added, “We fell short, but there are many memories from this year and this season to hang onto for the team.”
The team certainly had matches in which they proved they were a team to reckon with, and this was a year that the girls were supposed to be “rebuilding,” she said.
The girls had outstanding leadership from their upperclassmen, and the younger players showed outstanding potential for the future of Meeker volleyball.
It was truly a team effort as so many kids contributed to the success, Stansworth said.
Sydney Hughes, Reagan Pearce, and Paige Jones led the way in kills, while Megan Parker added to kills and added great play defensively at the net. Brittany Smith led the team in digs and sophomore Lori Ann Klinglesmith showed she will be ready to step up as a leader in coming years.
Halle Ahrens played well for the team, adding huge defensive touches at the net and creating offensive kills for the team.
Jenna Walsh is a presence that is missed for her stability, but the younger girls, like Reese Pertile and Payton Burke, are bright spots looking to the 2015 season.
The girls worked hard as a team and proved they will be in the hunt for the top seed next year, Stansworth said.
The team will have their banquet, where several members will be recognized as members of the all-conference team and honorable mention players.
Stansworth also wanted to thank all the parents and fans for their support this season.
