MEEKER I The Middle Elk Fire on the Blanco Ranger District is located some 30 miles north of New Castle, Colo., to the west of the Buford New Castle Road at Hiner Springs. For safety reasons the area of the fire remains closed at this time. Hunters need to be made aware that this closure does not apply to other portions of Game Management Unit 23. You can find a map of the closure area on www.inciweb.org under the “Middle Elk Fire” closure notice and http://wildlife.state.co.us /Hunting/Pages/Hunting.aspx on the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website.
