RANGELY — A Rangely High School student has qualified for a Colorado team that will represent the state at the 33rd national mathematics competition at Las Vegas on May 30-31.
Selected for the 15-member Division A team is Michael Morton, an 11th-grader at Rangely High School.
The annual American Regions Math League (ARML) competition brings together the nation’s finest math students. Two Colorado teams will travel to the western regional site at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to compete in both the Division A and Division B competition.
The Colorado math program is hosted by the University of Colorado Boulder Math Circle, which provides a monthly forum for high school and exceptional middle school students to gather for mathematical discussions and exercises. The program also serves as a “training ground” to prepare Colorado teams for the national competition.
The Colorado Math Circle program is supported by the CU-Boulder Outreach Committee and the department of applied mathematics. For further information, contact Silva Chang at (303) 494-1097 or [email protected].
