RANGELY — Two Colorado teams are set to compete at the 34th annual national mathematics competition May 29-30 at Las Vegas. The 15-member Division A team will include Michael Morton, who was a senior and participated with the Rangely High School Math Club.
The teams will travel to the western regional site at the University of Nevada to participate in the annual American Regions Math League competition, which brings together the top math students in the nation.
Last year, a Colorado team won first place in the ARML Division B competition.
The Colorado Math Circle program, hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder, provides a monthly forum for high school and exceptional middle school students to meet for mathematical discussions and exercises. The program also serves as a training ground to prepare Colorado teams for national competition.
