MEEKER I Oct. 20 was the last meeting of the current Meeker Board of Education (BOE) as there will be at least one new board member after Tuesday’s elections.
Marnell Bradfield, a four-year incumbent, chose not to run for re-election, and she was honored by the BOE for her years of service on the board.
Meeker Superintendent Chris Selle has produced job descriptions for every type of employment position in the school district, and those were approved by the board last week.
In other action, the following personnel were approved by the BOE: MHS cheer coach Becky Ridings; MHS wrestling—head coach J.C. Watt, assistant Carl Padilla, volunteers Barney LeBlanc and Tyrell Turner; MHS girls’ basketball—head coach Greg Chintala, assistant Mike Dinwiddie, C-team coach Mindy Burke and volunteer Karen Dinwiddie; MHS boys’ basketball—head coach Klark Kindler and assistant Matt Dupire; Barone Middle School girls’ basketball—eighth grade coach Jamie Rogers and seventh grade coach Tom Knowles; and substitute teacher Stephanie Fowler.
Selle reported the district’s current headcount at 707 students, some of these being part-time pre-school and kindergarten slots, making the full-time equivalent students at 617.5.
Attendance at Meeker Elementary School is at 94.94 percent, at Barone Middle School attendance is 95.15 percent and at Meeker High School, the attendance 93.81 percent At the high school, this year’s numbers compare to compares to 90.42 percent for the 2013-2014 school year and 89.29 percent for 2014-2015 school year.
The negative factor applied to state funding this year is projected to be $695,883.42 and expected to get worse.
