MEEKER | What a beautiful fall day for the final home games of Mustang football. Starbuck Stadium had a full schedule with the middle school teams playing at 10 a.m. and noon. At 2:30 p.m. Division 1 Meeker Black took the field against visiting Glenwood. Well rested, focused and hungry for their first win, Team Black thundered onto the field with victory in mind. Scoring on the first possession, they never looked back in a decisive win.
Mustangs Division 2 met a much more determined Glenwood team. Tough play on both sides of the ball had regulation time expire with the score tied at 14. Taking the first possession in overtime, the mighty Mustangs confidently punched the ball in the end zone. In an attempt to tie the score, Glenwood came up short, giving the home team another win.
Division 1 Gold team traveled to Coal Ridge for their toughest contest yet against Parachute. In fine “Meeker Tough Style,” Team Gold hung right in with a big and determined Parachute team. Coach Turner had high praise for the epic defensive effort saying, “Coach Anderson’s defense really came through today.” At the end of a classic blue sky day, Mustang football had three great victories.
