A determined week of practice brought the third and fourth grade squad to Coal Ridge for a rumble with the tough guys from Silt. Meeker showed up a little tentative and went into half time leading 7-0.
Encouraging coaches produced an energetic group dedicated to hard work in the second half. Meeker went on to win the game 28-6. Coach Padilla said of the senior boys “I’m very proud of our kids. We have learned to be humble and commit to hard work through the entire four quarters. We will continue to stick to the game plan and finish out the season on a good note.” That hard work and dedication showed in a 43-0 victory against Carbondale on Saturday.
The Mustangs end their season this Saturday at Glenwood Springs High School. The younger boys face off against Basalt at high noon. The older Mustangs kick off against Parachute at 4 p.m. All are invited to attend and cheer on the mighty Mustangs.
The dedicated coaches would also like to send an early invitation to all potential sponsors for next year!
