RANGELY I Rangely District Hospital is proud to announce the arrival of MS1, a state of the art Advanced Life Support Ambulance. MS1 is larger and more advanced than any other ambulance in Rangely’s history.
The ambulance is somewhat larger but the size is needed to support the advances systems onboard which allows for critical care which was not available in the old ambulances. MS1 is also outfitted with an advanced lift system which can support significantly more weight, while reducing the chances for injury to both patient and those employees who operate the ambulance. To many peoples surprise this ambulance, its lift system, as well as a second matching lift system installed on MS2, were funded entirely through grant funds. Two grants were applied for and ultimately both were successful.
$150,000 was secured through the CCITF energy impact funds which are made available through the Rio Blanco County Commissioners. The second grant, approximately $130,000, was secured through the State of Colorado’s EMTS grant system. The grant system is competitive in nature, with many entities, both county and statewide competing for the limited funds. It is with considerable pride we mention these two grants were written by Rangely Paramedic and EMS Director Shanna Kinney, who stated, “It was a team effort putting the grants together, you won’t be successful without teamwork.”
