MEEKER I In the year since New Eden Pregnancy Care Services opened its doors at 388 Main St., they have had 177 visitors and 40 “guidance visits” from women in need of help, support, information, or guidance about pregnancy, birth and child care.
The Christian non-profit organization provides guidance and accurate information concerning pregnancy and childbirth, referrals, pregnancy tests and practical needs in the “Baby Boutique” such as baby furniture, diapers, clothing and other pregnancy/child raising items.
“All of our services are free and confidential, and we heavily rely on items being donated so that we can provide the assistance that is needed.”
“We can meet just about any need of supplies for pregnant mothers and mothers with kids up to 2-years-old. Sometimes we can even help with older children. If we get a special request for something we don’t have, the churches and some individual people are willing to help out when they can,” said New Eden director Krystle Dunton.
New Eden now offers “Understanding Birth” (2nd edition), a DVD that provides educational information and instruction about pregnancy, labor, comfort techniques, medical procedures, cesarean birth, newborns and postpartum care.
On Saturday, March 31, the organization will host their second annual fundraising banquet, which will include a slide show that highlights what the all-volunteer team has accomplished in 2011. See their ad on page 4A for details about the banquet.
