Bibb to compete in Mrs. Colorado
annual contest
MEEKER — Roni Bibb was recently selected as Mrs. Meeker and will represent her community in the 32nd annual state competition to be held May 17 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver. The winner of the state competition will receive a prize package valued at more than $15,000 and will advance to compete with 49 other state delegates at the national Mrs. America pageant.
BLM hosting
meeting to discuss pipeline project
MEEKER — The Bureau of Land Management is inviting public input on the proposed Overland Pass Pipeline Piceance Basin Lateral Project to help identify issues of environmental concern, mitigation measures and possible alternatives.

MEEKER — Colorado Northwestern Community College and the Smoking Pow Wow Committee are sponsoring a community education seminar on Native American life: past, present and future, on Saturday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Register now for this interesting opportunity to learn more about the lives of Native Americans from Mary Lee Longhair as she shares insights about their ceremonies, customs and beliefs. AARP Driver’s Safety course starts soon
MEEKER — The AARP Driver’s Safety program will be held March 17-18 from 1-5 p.m. at the Senior Center in the Fairfield Center.
The program consists of eight hours classroom instruction and discussion (no driving, no tests) for motorists 50 and over. A small fee is charged. Those completing the course will qualify for a discount on their auto insurance.

Norell named to honor roll at Tarleton
MEEKER — Cynda Norell was named to Tarleton State University’s honor roll and distinguished students list for the fall 2007 semester. Distinguished students include freshman and sophomore students with a minimum 3.25 grade point ratio (GPR) and no grade lower than a C. For juniors and seniors, they must have a minimum 3.5 GPR with no grade lower than a C. To be named to the university’s honor roll, students must have a 4.0 GPR and take a minimum of 12 credit hours.

MEEKER — This week’s “home of” honorees are Billy and Natasha Goedert of Meeker. Billy has lived in Meeker for 28 years. Tasha moved here in 1993. Billy’s parents are Meeker residents Joe and Frances Goedert. Billy and Tasha have been married ten years.
Billy is a self-employed horse trainer. Tasha is a wildlife biologist with the U.S. Forest Service in Meeker.
The couple has two children. Their son Uri is 7-years-old and is a second-grader at Meeker Elementary School. Their daughter Sophia is 4 and attends preschool.
Their hobbies are their family and animals.
When asked what she likes most about Meeker, Tasha answered, “I like the solitude, quiet atmosphere and good friends and family.”
