OHV Poker Run July 28
MEEKER | The first annual Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue OHV poker run will be held Saturday, July 28 at Lake Avery. For $25 per hand, $10 for each additional card (must be 18 to purchase hands) riders can enjoy a 30 mile ride through the scenic White River National Forest. Hands will be sold from 9-11 a.m at Station 1 and must be turned in at Station 5 by 4 p.m. First place, $250; second place, $150; third place, $100. There will be door prizes and concessions will be provided by the Meeker Lions Club. All vehicles must be licensed or registered and vehicle width may not exceed 64 inches. Wild horse gather meeting tonight
MEEKER | A public hearing addressing the use of motorized vehicles to gather wild horses from the Texas Mountain Area, south of Rangely, Colorado in 2012 will be held at the White River Field office on Thursday, July 12 at 6 p.m. The White River Field Office is located at 220 East Market St., Meeker, Colo For further information contact Kent Walter at 970-878-3802.
Elk management opinions wanted
RBC | Colorado Parks and Wildlife is inviting the public to discuss elk management options for Game Management Units 1, 2 and 201, recognized as prime hunting areas in northwest Colorado. The units, also identified as Data Analysis Unit E-1, are managed to produce high-quality elk and require many points to draw a license. The presentation will take place Thursday, July 12, 6 p.m., in the Lodore Hall at the Browns Park National Wildlife Refuge.
