Development 101, stakeholder meeting
MEEKER | A representative from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade will be in Meeker on Monday, June 25 at Kilowatt Korner (233 Sixth St.) to assist the community in furthering our economic development planning. Please join us at 6 p.m. for Economic Development 101. This one-hour class demystifies economic development and what it means for our community. At 7 p.m. take part in the Economic Development Stakeholder Group meeting. Many of you volunteered to work together in creating an economic development planning process and offer valuable insight to what will work for your business. We will continue these discussions and take the next step in this process. RSVP to the Meeker Chamber at 970-878-5510.

Grand re-opening of Elks Park July 7
RANGELY | The grand re-opening of Elks Park will be celebrated July 7 and tickets for the surf-n-turf lunch are on sale until June 29. Call Camilla Kennedy at 675-8211 for tickets and to sign up for the salsa contest and rib cook-off.

Balloga named to CMU dean’s list
MEEKER | Jonas Balloga has met the requirements for recognition of academic achievement during spring 2012 and is hereby accorded the honor of being placed on the dean’s list at Colorado Mesa University.

CNCC Watercolor Art Show June 28
MEEKER | The opening reception for the CNCC Watercolor Art Show will be held June 28, starting at 5 p.m., at Wendll’s Wondrous Things, hosted by CNCC community education instructor John Kobald. Kobald’s students’ art projects from the spring semester will be on display for the month of July.

RBC Historical Society meeting June 24

RBC | The RBC Historical Society will hold its quarterly board meeting on Sunday, June 24 at 1 p.m. at Kilowatt Korner in the WREA building at Sixth and Market with a delicious pot luck luncheon. A presentation on military history of the White River Valley will be offered by local military historians and veterans. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Meeker Pageant needs participants
MEEKER | Meeker Pageant director Laurie Zellers is seeking participants for the July 4th Meeker Pageant production. This spectacular annual event has been presented each year for more than 70 years. Players are needed for various characters and technical production support staff. If you are interested and available, please contact Laurie Zellers at 878-0554 or email [email protected].

Resource monitoring workshop today

MEEKER | Douglas Creek Conservation District, White River Conservation District and the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association are holding a Colorado Resource Monitoring Initiative (CRMI) Workshop in Meeker June 21. The event is being sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management. Please join us and learn the importance of monitoring your rangeland and the benefits of implementing CRMI. The workshop will be taking place at Mountain Valley Bank, 400 Main St., and the cost for the program is $25 per individual or $40 per ranch.
