Hurricanes host free swimming clinic
RANGELY — The Rangely Hurricanes Swim Team is proud to announce the 2008 Hurricanes Stroke Clinic. The clinic is intended for anyone between the ages of 6 and 13 who can swim the length of the pool (25 yards) and who want to improve his or her swimming technique. This clinic is perfect for the swimmer looking to learn more about swim team and the strokes used in competition swimming. Swimmers will practice stroke drills, emphasizing stroke fundamentals for all four competitive strokes. Be sure to join us May 1-2 from 3-5 p.m. at the Western Rio Blanco Recreation Center pool. The clinic is free so just show up that day. Direct any questions to Beth Scoggins at 675-5721.

MHS hosting spring art show Friday
MEEKER — The art department of Meeker High School would like to invite the public to the 2008 Spring Art Show to be held at the Mountain Valley Bank community room.  The reception for the show will be Fridayb starting at 7 p.m. The show is free and open to the public. Some students indicated they will have pieces for sale. Juror for this year’s show is local artist and sculptor John Kobald.

New drill team
members are
welcomed
MEEKER — It is time again for the Meeker Drill Team to start practice for this summer’s performances. We are looking for riders who love to ride and would like to do something different and fun. Riders of all ages are welcome, as long as they have good control of their horse. If you are a young rider, your parents will need to get you to practice. The Drill Team provides shirts, saddle pads and leg wraps. Practices are in the indoor arena at Meeker Fairgrounds Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. Please join us. Relay for Life
planning team to meet May 14
RANGELY — The Rio Blanco County Relay For Life planning meeting is Wednesday, May 14. Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month until the relay. The May 14 meeting is at 5:30-6:30 p.m. at CNCC’s Weiss Conference Room. The next meeting is June 11.

Tri-State dinner meeting May 15
RBC — The Tri-State Generation and Transmission dinner meeting will be held Thursday, May 15 at the Holiday Inn of Craig, Colo. Guest speaker will be Jim Sims of the Western Business Roundtable. MEEKER — Registration is still open for Pat Daggett’s Pastel Workshop May 10-11 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Treat yourself to this art experience and enjoy spring. Call CNCC Meeker Center at 878-5227 for more information, or stop by on Tuesday or Wednesday at 345 Sixth St. in the Riegel Building.

Donations being accepted for
soldiers
RBC — The country’s soldiers need help. There is a collection box set up at White River Electric to accept donations of mens’ underwear (boxers or briefs), T-shirts, flip-flops or slippers and single blankets. Cash donations may be made to Jack Mohnhaupt at 1089 Garfield, Meeker, Colo. Cash will be converted to supplies and mailed. If you have any questions, call Mohnhaupt at (970) 878-4454.

Stallion show set for May 20 in Craig
RBC — The “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions will be performing at the Moffat County Fairgrounds in Craig, Colo., Tuesday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. For more information go to www.lipizzaner.com.
