Polar Plunge in Rangely Saturday
RANGELY | The 2016 Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics will be held at Kenney Reservoir on Nov. 12 with registration beginning at 11 a.m. For more information contact Norian Edwards at 801-589-3210 or email [email protected].
Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection Nov. 14-20
MEEKER | Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child will be collected Nov. 14-20 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Meeker. Suggested items include toiletries and personal hygiene items like toothpaste, soap, and hair combs, socks, mittens, hats, school supplies and a “wow” toy or two for each box. No chocolate, liquids, military or war-related (including camouflage items) are permitted, as many of the recipients live in war-torn regions. There are three age groups. Labels and boxes are available at the LAI/Meeker Spirit/Meeker Embroidery store at the corner of Fifth and Main (the former office supply store). If you have questions, contact Stella McGruder at 878-5162.
CNCC computer classes available
MEEKER | Need help improving skills with Microsoft Excel and/or PowerPoint? Excel classes will be held in November and PowerPoint follows in December. For further information call 878-5227 or stop by the office at 345 Sixth St. next to the post office.
Festival of Lights set for Nov. 30
MEEKER | Start planning now to enter your float in Meeker’s annual Parade of Lights on Wed., Nov. 30 in downtown Meeker. The Festival of Lights will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the courthouse tree lighting ceremony, decorated wreath display and the parade. Showcase your business, organization or lighting display. Call the chamber for a Parade of Lights entry form at 970-878-5510.
Christmasfest plans underway
RANGELY | The Western Rio Blanco Recreation & Park District is making preparations for the annual Christmasfest celebration, scheduled for Dec. 9 and 10 this year. The theme for this year’s Christmasfest is Elf on the Shelf. They are seeking help with the planning committee, volunteers and donations. Meet CNCC’s new president in Meeker
MEEKER | Save the date for an open house on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 5-6 p.m. at the Meeker VFW building (290 4th St.) to welcome new CNCC President Ronald Granger to Meeker and Eastern Rio Blanco County. Anyone arriving early for the open house can meet up with Ron and his wife Alisa at the Mexican House (624 Market St.) for a Dutch lunch at noon.
