Petersburg benefit auction Saturday
RANGELY | The lady Panther volleyball teams will be hosting a baked goods benefit silent auction during their final home games of the season against Paonia this Saturday. Proceeds from the auction will help 3-year-old Boden Petersburg, son of Ty and Stephanie Petersburg, and his family as he undergoes brain cancer treatment. If you would like to donate baked goods for the auction, please bring them to the high school at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The auction starts at the beginning of the freshman game at 12 p.m. and continues all afternoon. Winners will be announced by the end of the varsity game.

All-Star Book Fair Oct. 24-25 in Meeker
MEEKER | The Meeker Elementary School (201 Ute Road) would like to invite the community to our Scholastic All-Star Book Fair Oct. 24 from 3-8 p.m. and Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The book fair will be held in the library. Grandparents are encouraged to bring their grandchildren to the book fair. All grandparents who bring a grandchild will be entered in a drawing for a gift from the book fair. Everyone is invited.

Meeker Craft Show Nov. 2-3
MEEKER | The Meeker Craft Show will be Friday, Nov. 2, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the old elementary school. Please call 970-878-3361 for more information or to request a registration form.

Pumpkin Patch Oct. 20 in Meeker
MEEKER | Join Homemaker Furnishings, the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, Meeker Realty and White River Electric Association for the fourth annual Homemaker Furnishings Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, Oct. 20. All kids ages 12 and under can come pick out a free pumpkin at 10 a.m. in downtown Meeker, on the courthouse lawn. The Meeker Chamber of Commerce and Homemaker Furnishings is sponsoring a pumpkin carving contest on Oct. 31 in conjunction with the ERBM Recreation District’s Pumpkins Eats ‘n Treats event. For rules and entry information, contact the Meeker Chamber at 970-878-5510.

Networking Group meeting Oct. 23
RANGELY | The next Community Networking Group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Weiss Center Concerence Room. The speaker for the October meeting will be Fred Slagle from Encana Oil & Gas, Inc. Pizza and salad will be served.

Capitol Christmas Tree Celebration Nov. 3
MEEKER | Mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov. 3 to celebrate the Capitol Christmas Tree coming from the White River National Forest. The celebration will be held in downtown Meeker and will include a 5K run/walk, street fair, music, bounce houses, stilt walkers, Ute Indian dancers, children’s holiday music performances, dignitary speeches, parade of lights, fireworks and more. Festivities start at 2 p.m. and go until after dark. Look for a detailed schedule of events as the days get closer. Join our community celebration as we send Colorado’s “gift to the Nation” on its nationwide tour. Celebration events brought to you by the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, ERBM Rec and Park District, Town of Meeker, Forest Service, and the Christmas Tree committee.
Capitol Tree open house Nov. 2
meeker | On Nov. 2, join Dan and Keri Schwartz at Ripple Creek Lodge (39020 CR 8, Meeker) as they host an open house from 8 a.m. to noon, prior to the Capitol Christmas Tree cutting. Later that afternoon, venture downtown from 4-7 p.m. for a mayor’s reception and public viewing of the Capitol Christmas Tree when it arrives in Meeker. Join the Meeker Elementary School fifth graders as they sing patriotic songs, sign the tree banner which will be attached to the tree as it travels across the United States on its way to Washington D.C., and visit with Santa Claus.
