Broadband meeting today in Meeker

MEEKER | Please join Rio Blanco County and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade on Oct. 27 from 9-11 a.m. at Mountain Valley Bank. Utilization of broadband service for economic development efforts will be discussed. Please email [email protected] with any questions and to RSVP.

Pumpkin carving contest Oct. 31

MEEKER | A pumpkin carving contest will be taking place at the ERBM Recreation and Park District’s Pumpkins Eats ‘n Treats event on Monday, Oct. 31. All interested people can bring their completed carved pumpkin between 4:30-5 p.m. to the stage at the downtown plaza (courthouse lawn). The carved pumpkins will be judged at 5 p.m. with the winners being announced immediately following the costume parade, which starts at 5:30 p.m. For more information call the Meeker Recreation Center at 970-878-3403.

Economic development meeting Nov. 2

MEEKER | Are you interested in learning about Meeker’s economic development projects? If so, please join us for a community open house. Topics to be discussed include: business attraction, business retention and expansion, visitor attraction, resident attraction and an update on catalyst projects. The open house will be held Thursday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. at Mountain Valley Bank. Call Katelin Cook at 970-878-9474 or Scott Meszaros at 970-878-4960 for more information.

MSD hosts informational meeting Nov. 7

MEEKER | The Meeker School District will host an informational community meeting on Monday, Nov. 7, in the high school auditorium to review future Meeker public school financing including public ideas for priority spending of the $875,000 ending fund balance which was left from the last school year, at 7 p.m. All community members are urged to attend.

Polar Plunge in Rangely planned Nov. 12

RANGELY | The 2016 Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics will be held at Kenney Reservoir on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. For more information contact Norian Edwards at 801-589-3210 or email njames@ rdhops.org.

CNCC computer classes available

MEEKER | Need help improving skills with Microsoft Excel and/or PowerPoint? If so, register now at CNCC Meeker Center for these October classes. Excel classes will be held in November and PowerPoint follows in December. For further information call 878-5227 or stop by the office at 345 Sixth St. next to the post office.

Christmasfest plans underway

RANGELY | The Western Rio Blanco Recreation & Park District is making preparations for the annual Christmasfest celebration, scheduled for Dec. 9 and 10 this year. The theme for this year’s Christmasfest is Elf on the Shelf. They are seeking help with the planning committee, volunteers and donations.
