RANGELY I At approximately 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 19, the Rangely Police Department responded to a call of a possible burglary and assault that turned into an incident in which one man allegedly shot another.
As of Monday, Rangely Police Chief Vince Wilczek told the Herald Times that there is no new information to report and that the investigation is continuing.
The incident took place at the Buck ‘n’ Bull RV Camper Park, located just east of Rangely. The initial investigation revealed an injured man had wandered into a neighbor’s residence and then left the residence, Rangely Police Lt. Roy Kinney said.

The victim was reported as being shot by an unknown assailant, but the wounds were not fatal.
A suspect who was later identified was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Rio Blanco County Jail on charges of first-degree assault, Kinney said.
Chief Wilczek as of Monday continued to withhold the name and hometown of the man arrested, the name and hometown of the victim or the condition of the victim.
The Rangely Police Department, Colorado Bureau of Investigation and district attorney’s investigative units are continuing the investigation and will release further information as it becomes available, Kinney said.
