Donald Lee Wise, 80, of Green River, Wyo. passed away Aug. 24, 2011, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County.A long time resident of Green River, Wise died following a lengthy illness.He was born March 4, 1931, in Meeker, the son of the late Harvey and Ethel Milner Wise. Wise attended schools in Meeker and was a 1950 graduate of Meeker High School.He married the former Elisabeth Kuhn in Germany on March 21, 1959.Wise served with distinction in the United States Air Force for 26 years. While in the service he received several medals including the Meritorius Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters.He served in the United States, Europe and Asia and retired in 1977 as a senior master sergeant.He worked many places following his retirement including Adam’s Sales, Western Wyoming Community College and at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. His interests included spending time with his wife, son and daughter-in-law and playing cribbage with them. He was a very dedicated family man.He also enjoyed reading, walking his cocker spaniel dogs and playing pool at the Golden Hour Senior Citizens Center. He was an avid sports fan.Wise was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Golden Hour Senior Citizens Center and the VFW.Survivors include his wife Elisabeth Wise of Green River, Wyo.; son Helmut Wise and wife Carla of Rock Springs, Wyo.; brother Thomas Wise and wife Lois of Clifton, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.Following cremation, a memorial mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, Sept. 9, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Green River.The family of Donald Lee Wise respectfully suggests that donations in his memory be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O.
