Chantel Spring Powell was born March 11, 1978 in Rangely, Colo., to the loving parents of Vernon Powell and Cindy Williams-Ribble. She went to school in Rangely but later moved to Negaunee, Mich., where she graduated from high school in 1996. Chantel went on to nursing school where she earned her LPN license and started her career caring for terminally-ill children. She enjoyed reading, watching movies and spending time with her five children whom she adored: Ashley Richards, Jasmine Shepherd, Keanan Shepherd, Gavin Shepherd and Quinton Shepherd of Wisconsin.
After a one-year battle with cancer, she passed away on June 9, 2012 in Grand Junction, Colo., surrounded by parents, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her five children, her father Vernon Powell (Nakina Powell) of Blue Mountain, Colo., her mother Cindy Williams-Ribble (Larry Ribble) of Broken Arrow, Okla., grandmother Irene Williams of Grand Junction, Colo., her three sisters Natalie Shelton of Vernal, Utah, Briana Faith Powell of Ft. Atkinson, Wisc., Abigail Powell-Hebd of Edgerton, Wisc., and 16 nieces and nephews and a multitude of other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at the Christian Church in Rangely, Colo., on June 14, 2012 at 1 p.m.
