Cherry Ann Hanks
Sept. 16, 1924 ~ June 26, 2008Cherry Ann Hanks passed peacefully June 26, 2008, with loving family at her side. As one who embraced life, she was the best wife, mom and friend with an open door for all.
Born in Cimmaron, Kan., Sept. 16, 1924, to Walter and Posie Taylor, Cherry was one of four children. Growing up in Meeker, Colo., Cherry and Glen, her adoring husband, were high school sweethearts and stayed sweethearts for their 64 years of marriage. They were married Dec. 5, 1943, after Glen was honorably discharged upon being injured in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. They were blessed with three children. Doing “the most important job in the world,” she worked as a mom and housewife and bowled, skied and played bridge on the side. Once the kids were grown and she had attained her associate’s degree, Cherry joined Glen as a Boeing employee where she loved supporting the guys and, of course, they’d do anything for her. Upon retirement, Cherry and Glen loved traveling the world together.
Cherry was a 57-year resident of South King County with great memories in Shorewood, Federal Way and their condo and Wesley Terrace in Des Moines. Surviving family members include her beloved husband, Glen, children: Cheryl, Mike and Becky; grandchildren Natasha, Nathan, Chris and Jeff; and great-grandchildren:Jake, Ryan and Adam, all of whom she loved very much. A private family gathering celebrated the life of this wonderful lady. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to your local food bank or to the Wesley Homes Foundation of Des Moines, Wash.
