Curtis L. Durham, of Hamilton, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at his home. He was 49.
Curtis was born on Aug. 26, 1959, in Craig, Colo., to Harry and Naomi (Osborn) Durham Jr. He was raised on the family ranch near the Moffat – Rio Blanco County line and attended school in Craig graduating from Moffat County High School in 1978.
Curtis married Leslee Purcell on Aug. 1, 1981, in Craig and to this union four children were born – Levi, Trent, Rex and Kaylee. Curtis was a heavy equipment operator, rancher and most recently had been working as a foreman in the oil fields. He enjoyed his work and being with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Leslee of Hamilton; his daughter Kaylee of Hamilton; his sons Levi (Jill) Durham of Craig, Trent and Rex Durham both of Hamilton, Colo.; his grandchildren Clay and Logan; his mother Naomi Durham of Craig; his sisters Phyllis (Don) Myers, of Hamilton, Lois (Frank) Sampson, of Meeker, and Evelyn (Richard) Ott, of Craig; his mother and father-in-law Jim and Carol Purcell of Vale, Ore.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Craig Christian Church with Mervin Johnson officiating. Wanda Brown was the soloist and sang “Finally Home.” Pallbearers were Levi, Trent and Rex Durham and Lee, Wyatt and Clint Sampson. Interment followed in the Craig Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association in care of Grant Mortuary.
