David Allen Lancaster, 74, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016, at his home after a three-year battle with lung cancer.
Dave was born in Springfield, Colo., on May 19, 1941. He moved to Artesia (later changed to Dinosaur), Colo., when he was 9 years old.
He spent most of his childhood roaming the hills hunting for arrowheads. He loved camping and fishing in what he called “Little Grand Canyon” – Echo Park.
He moved to Rangely, Colo., in 1978. He worked in the oil field for 30 years, operating a backhoe. Later, he owned his own business, Dave’s Backhoe Service.
He is preceded in death by: his father, Frank Lancaster; mother Jane Lancaster; brother Jesse Lancaster; and nephew, Mike Lancaster.
He is survived by the love of his life, Rita of Rangely; daughters LaDonna Lancaster Howard of Evanston, Wyo., and Ruta Lancaster Horner of Thayne, Wyo.; two granddaughters, Ashley Howard Thompson (Courtney) of Evanston, Wyo., and Brittany Howard Lesmeister (Jared) of Casper, Wyo.; two great-grandsons, Trapper and Cooper Howard of Casper, Wyo.; and one prince or princess due in June in Evanston, Wyo., two brothers, Mike Lancaster (Debbie), and Terry Lancaster (Christy) both of Rangely; and many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved!
Dave was known by many and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Grace Baptist Church, 144 South Stanolind Ave. in Rangely, Colorado. His final resting place will be in the Dinosaur Cemetery at Dinosaur, Colo.
