Donald William “Doni” Sword, born Sept. 4, 1980, passed from this life to the next April 4, 2010, in Salt Lake City of natural causes with his fiancee, Michelle, by his side.
Doni was born in Rawlins, Wyo., to Karyn Burke and Donald G. Sword. He attended school in Gillette, Laramie and Cheyenne. In 1998, Doni met his first love, Misty Hiehl. From that union a son was born, Kelton Sword in 2000. In 2003, Doni had another son, Anthony. After years of trial and tribulation, Doni moved to Rangely to be with his family. He was employed by Basic Energy in Rangely. He met the love of his life, Michelle Leeflang and her two daughters, Jaden and Mia. As he told his dad, “I finally got it.” Doni’s dream was to make a family with Jaden, Mia, Kelton and Anthony
His family was his life. Doni loved baseball, fishing and riding horses. He loved laughing and teasing. His laugh was contagious and with his brother and sister, he could make the room shake with laughter. He will never be forgotten, and always be in our hearts. Doni is survived by his parents Joe White and Karyn Burke White, his brother Shane Menefe, sister Kristol (Alex) Urie, sister Debbie Sword, Vicki Sword and brother David Sword, his children Kelton and Anthony Sword, nephews Caleb and William Urie, and fiancee Michelle Leeflang and her children Jaden and Mia.
He was preceded in death by his father Donald G. Sword, grandparents F.W. “Bill” Burke and Velma Burke. A celebration of Doni’s life was Friday, April 9, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Rangely. Rio Blanco Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
