Douglas Ray Davis
March 5, 1962 ~ Feb. 1, 2008
Doug Davis, 45, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 1, 2008.
Doug was born March 5, 1962, in Glenwood Springs, to Mahlon “Dave” Davis and Judith Kay Williams. He married Jackie Stewart June 22, 2002, out on the Flat Tops. Together, they have two children. Doug was self-employed with his company, Davis Construction and as a fisherman.
Doug was preceded in death by a cousin Stephen Ray Davis.
He is survived by his wife Jackie; his children Austin Mahlon and Elizabeth Adda “Addy;” his father and stepmother Dave and Betty Davis of Austin, Colo.; his mother Judith Kay (Williams) Blakeslee of Glenwood Springs; brother David (Melanie) Davis; sisters Nellie (Jim) Clausson and Lori (Paul) Kindall; nieces and nephews Vonnie, Matt, Nicolle, Janae, Kay, Karrie, Kelly, Kyle, Kevin, Toni, Justin, Brett and Natalie.
Doug loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who spent many hours fishing, snowmobiling and hunting. He was known as a friend who could be counted on to lend a hand any time there was a need. Doug was a “big kid” at heart who could always be found surrounded by kids at any gathering. The biggest joy of his life was being a dad to Austin and Addy and a husband to his wife Jackie. Doug will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
A viewing is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 6-8 p.m. and again Thursday, Feb. 7 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Rifle Funeral Home, 1400 Access Rd. in Rifle. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Church in Rifle.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Doug Davis Scholarship Fund for his children Austin and Addy Davis. Donations can be made at any Alpine Bank.
