We gather to celebrate the life of EffieJean Medlen, who went to be with her husband Edward and God this past Monday, Feb. 8, 2010. EffieJean was 79 years old and passed from complications of heart disease. She is survived by her brother Lynn Davidson of Fairbanks, Alaska; her daughter Kimberly Neufeld of Colorado Springs; and son Rick Medlen of Creswell, Ore.
Born in Emporia, Kan., and moving to Craig at age 9, EffieJean Davidson married Edward Medlen on her 16th birthday and enjoyed 55 happy years of marriage until he passed in 2002. She lived a long and full life, helping to raise three generations of kids and to give them the moral basis that every Christian needs in their formative years. Married to an Assembly of God minister, she truly embodied the faith and grace that God has given all of us. She spent her career as a catalog manager for JC Penney in Craig and Monte Vista and later in Grand Junction, and assisted her husband with his pastoral duties in Meeker, Nucla and Monte Vista. The Medlens lived in Meeker from 1956 to 1972 and pastored the Assembly of God Church.
She will be dearly missed, but her reunion with Ed in heaven is a cause for rejoicing.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010.
Please send remembrances to the Rocky Mountain Council of the Assemblies of God Church in Colorado Springs, Colo.
