Elaine Dorothy Diaz Alire

Elaine Alire of Grand Junc-tion passed on at home of natural causes on Aug. 28, 2008. She was 65.
She was born March 9, 1943, at Silt, Colo., to Frank and Della Crespin Diaz. She was graduated from high school at Silt and was graduated from Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs with a certificate in business administration.
In 1960, Elaine married Ross V. Alire at Silt. Elaine lived in the Grand Valley for the past 43 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a Eucharistic minister, a Stephen’s minister, served as a jailhouse minister and sang in the choir.
Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She dedicated her life to helping others. She worked as a case worker and retired from Mesa County Department of Social Services after 34 years. Elaine enjoyed photography, picnicking with her family, church retreats and viewing wildlife and her singing with the choir.
Elaine will be missed but she is safe and at peace in Heaven in the arms of her loving Lord and Savior.
Survivors include two sons; Ross V. Alire of Rangely, Colo., and Kirk A. Alire of Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters, Terry Kellerby of Clifton, Colo., and Debra Stone of Mesa, Colo.; five grandchildren; one brother, Fred Diaz of Rifle, Colo., and one sister Stella Urban of Denver, Colo. Her husband, Ross, parents and one brother, Manual Diaz preceded her in death.
A Rosary was prayed on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at 7 p.m. in the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
