Craig resident Elaine Dorothy Garcia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 27, 2016, surrounded by her family at her residence in Craig. She was 73.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Grace Bible Church in Meeker.
Elaine Dorothy Garcia was born to Antonio Epifanio and Genevieve (Sisneros) Garcia on Sept. 7, 1942, in New Mexico. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Alamosa, Colo., for several years before moving to Hotchkiss, Colo. Following her marriage, Elaine moved to Rocky Ford, Colo., where she resided until moving to Craig in 2011.
Elaine, a retired certified nurse’s assistant, enjoyed studying the Bible, playing board games with her granddaughter and sewing for her family. More importantly, she was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Elaine was a member of Grace Bible Church in Meeker.
Elaine is survived by: her three sons, Michael Largent (Lori) of Meeker, Kenneth Largent of Grand Junction, and Gerald Largent (Kelly) of Craig; and two sisters, Polly Torkar (Emil) of Carlsbad, Calif., and Luatha Paiz of Grand Junction. Elaine is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by: her son, Shannon Largent; one brother, Tony Garcia; and a sister, Lala Vigil.
