Obituary: Ford Brady

Ford Glen Brady, 60, of Rangely passed away on Dec. 6, 2011, following complications resulting from acute coronary syndrome. He was the third child of Glen and Carol Walker Brady born Oct. 19, 1951, in Rangely, Colo., and for the most part was raised in Douglas Creek just outside of town. He and his siblings lost their mother in 1960, and 1-1/2 years later their father was taken from them in a terrible tragedy. These losses forever changed Ford’s life. The children were then raised by Lorain and Donna Brady. The unimaginable pain at the loss of his parents drew Ford close to his siblings, and to this day they share a special bond of love and friendship. Ford attended schools in Rangely, where he wrestled, lettering all four years, and was awarded a scholarship to attend college. He was graduated from Rangely High School in 1969 and from there moved to Las Vegas to work and be near his cousins. He married Debbie Pyatt. They were later divorced and then Ford married Dona Peel in 1979. They had five beautiful children, whom he adored. Ford and Dona were divorced 18 years later but always kept a good relationship.
Ford was akin to the outdoors and to nature. He was a rare person indeed. All mountains were put there for him to run to the top — not hike, not climb, but flat-out run to the top and then scramble down just as fast as he had gone to the top. Ford could fix or build just about anything. Ford loved his family and was a stranger to no person. These are just a few of the things that we love and remember about Ford and there are many more. Most of all, Ford was simply a happy person and that left an impression on nearly everyone he met.
Ford is survived by his siblings: Gloria (Gary) Warren, Christine (J.W.) Burbank, Brent (Cheryl) Brady and Anne (Jared) McEntire; the mother of his children, Dona Russel; his children, Donald (Erin) Brady, Jonathan (Farrah) Brady, Elizabeth (Jacob) Michie, Galen Brady and Katherine Brady; their children, one grandson and five granddaughters; his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and by the many friends whose lives he blessed with his service and friendship. He is loved by all and will be remembered by all of us and greatly missed. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the Naples 2nd Ward LDS Chapel. A viewing was also held at the chapel prior to services. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction and care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
