Gerald (Jerry) Allen Hayes

Gerald (Jerry) Allen Hayes was born in Cut Bank, Mont., on Sept. 4, 1936. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Ralph R. Hayes. He is survived by his mother Grace W. Hayes of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Stan Hayes of Mesa; his wife of 54 years, Loyann Hayes; three children and their spouses, Beckey (John) Hume, Miachel (Tracy) Hayes, Beth (Cleve) Gibbon; seven grandchildren, John Keith Hume, Jr. (Willie Goemmel), Jaime (Hume) Corey White, Laurie Hume (Terry Baker), Shelby and Hillary Hayes, and Courtney and Alyssa Gibbon; four great-grandchildren, Skyler Hume of Troutdale, Ore., Casey and Adywen Meeks of Rangely, and Camron White of Aurora.
Jerry grew up around the rigs and learned firsthand the ins and outs of the oil business. He was currently involved with Hayes Petroleum and Rio Mesa Resources with his son Miachel Hayes and grandson Shelby Hayes. Jerry’s many interests included playing softball, hunting, fishing, ranching, and watching his favorite team the Denver Broncos play football. Jerry loved traveling with his family and took many trips. He loved his dogs and had several of them who enjoyed being “snowbirds” too. To read more of Jerry’s life story, log on to www.mem.com.
Jerry went to be with his Lord on April 13, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Rangely Christian Church, 501 Darius Ave.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be set up at the First National Bank of the Rockies in Rangely. Arrangements entrusted to Melcher Mission Chapel, Mesa, Ariz.
