Glen Paul Papez
Glen Paul Papez, 58, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

Glen was born in Walsenburg, Colo, and is survived by: his parents, Joe and Patty (Bellotti) Papez; two brothers, Greg (and Maggie) of Montrose and Gerald (and Sherry) of Mesa; his grandmother, Albina Papez of Walsenburg; numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins; and his dog, Rigs.
Glen grew up on the White River east of Meeker, Colo., doing what he loved—hunting, fishing, and anything and everything outdoors!
After being graduated from Meeker High School in 1976, Glen immediately started making his own distinct way in this world. He worked as a government trapper for more than 10 years: trapping on the ground and shooting from the plane (which he loved). In 1982 he established his own successful business, Glen Papez Outfitters, which he operated up until the time of his death.
Though he loved the outdoors, guiding, hunting, and fishing, his true passion was his ranch at Meeker where he ran sheep and raised hay. He had that passion for the land that few can understand or explain. He was connected to the land and took great pride and satisfaction in working to improve it and make it all productive.
Everyone who knew Glen knows that what you saw was what you got! He never put on airs—he was honest and upfront with everyone, leaving no one to wonder what he thought.
Through seven and a half years of fighting his cancer, Glen always remained positive, kept his amazing sense of humor and fought the fight with class!
His strong spirit and ability to live life to its fullest will be so missed!
There will be a private burial. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
