Gregory Bruce “Greg” Booker passed away at his home in Rangely, Colo., on July 16, 2014, after a seven-month battle with lung cancer. He was 60 years old.
Greg was born April 29, 1954, to Arnold Bryce Booker and Ruth McElroy Booker in Leon, Iowa. He lived in Lamoni, Iowa, Kansas City, Mo., Overland Park, Kan., and Denver, Colo., before his family settled in Rangely when he was 11 years old.
Greg was graduated from Rangely High School in 1972, and shortly after started his career in the oilfield. On June 5, 1976, he married his wife, Cindy, in Rangely, where they continued to reside and start a family. Greg enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he had a passion for motorcycles.
Greg is survived by: his wife, Cindy; his children, Jon and Erin Willis and Andria Booker; his grandchildren, Brandon, Bryce and Addison Willis, and Rylan Booker of Rangely; his mother, Ruth Booker of Grand Junction, Colo.; his sister, Christi Harris of Carbondale, Colo.; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bryce Booker, and his brother, Andrew Booker.
Services were held at Rangely Christian Church on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. Following the service, a celebration of Greg’s life was held at Elks Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Ashley Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calaway Young Cancer Center (1906 Blake Ave. Glenwood Springs, Colo., 81601) in Greg’s name.
