Helen Bonnell Halcomb, lovingly called Grandma Bunny Rabbit, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Rangely District Hospital on Feb. 28, 2014.
Although we are going to miss our sweet Bunny Rabbit, we know she is no longer burdened with earthly illnesses. She is now able to breathe God’s heavenly air, sing, yodel and play as much as she wants.
Most of all, she can be with her loved ones who have been patiently waiting for her. For those who loved her, we shouldn’t be sad, but celebrate that she is breathing the air of our heavenly father and of her new eternal life. For if you believe, then you know she will patiently be waiting for us one day.
Bonnell was born on May 20, 1932, to Wilk and Velma Covington in Ada, Okla. She spent her childhood in many locations throughout Oklahoma including Ada, Oil Center and Headricks, where she attended and was graduated from high school.
She married Bluford Halcomb on July 5, 1950. Because of Blu’s work in the oil fields, they spent many of the early years of their marriage living in different states including Oklahoma, California, Montana, North and South Dakota, Wyoming and finally settling in Rangely, Colo., in 1961. After the move, she enjoyed golfing, crafting, decorating her house for Christmas and, most of all, her children and grandchildren.
She leaves behind a husband, Bluford; a brother, Ronald Gail Covington; and seven adoring kids, Brenda and Rob Fairchild, Steve and Kim Halcomb, Debbie and Jim Chaffee, Alvin and Glenda Halcomb, Jerry and Lisa Halcomb, Ronnie and Cindy Halcomb and Jackie and Terry Huckins; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Our thanks to Callahan Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction and Bible Baptist Church in Rangely.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Bible Baptist Church, 1402 E. Main St. in Rangely, Colo., 81648. A reception will follow services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Rangely Animal Shelter Furry Friends.
