Houston (Hugh) Murry, 86, passed from this life Thursday, May 8, 2008, at his home in Axlie, Texas, with his family at his side.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Skull Creek, Colo. There will be signs leading to the memorial site. Join us for a picnic pot-luck after the memorial service at Dinosaur Park on Highway 40. Please call (970) 374-2386 for any questions.
Hugh was born June 5, 1921, in Goree, Texas, and was the eighth of 12 children born to Sherman and Allie Parsley Murry. He left Texas to work with the Three C’s in Macedona, Colo. He also served his country in the Army during WWII, along with his three brothers.
After his military service, Hugh worked for a number of years in the oilfields of northwest Colorado. He retired from Rangely School District as supervisor of maintenance in 1986 after 17 years of service.
Hugh married Doris Bourdette in 1941, and they had four children. Doris preceded him in death in 1979. He later met and married Wanda Hampton on April 21, 1988.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Murry; son Willis D. Murry and wife Shirley of Alto, N.M.; daughters Jean Hill and husband Herschel of Aztec, N.M.; Bonita Murry and husband Fred of Nashville, Tenn.; Barbara Kemry and Michelle Kemry of St. Augustine, Fla.; step-children Mike Mauney of Poolville, Texas; Diana Britt and husband Tim of Arlington, Texas; and a large number of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
