Obituary: Jamie Brasfield

Jamie Brasfield
Jamie Brasfield
On February 13, 2013 our family lost a wonderful, brave, and strong fighter, Jamie Leif Brasfield. He continued to fight with melanoma cancer with the will to survive in Phoenix, Ariz. He lived his life with integrity and bravery and a strong will to fight. His views on life were inspirational: “Love the moment” and “death is the greatest adventure of all.” He gave us the strength to seek another source of comfort and strength. Jamie dealt with the zest for living and his ability to embrace death, his symbol of continuing love is reassuring remembrance to keep close to his heart. His will to fight gave us the ability to cope more easily, to hold a source of comfort in our hands and to find peace in our hearts. Jamie was born on Oct. 6, 1982, in Craig, Colo. A service will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Rangely Christian Church at 3 p.m., located at 501 Darius, Rangely, Colo., 81648.
Jamie was graduated from Rangely High in 2001 and succeeded with a degree at Mesa State. During his high school years he had dream and determination to be a good wrestler. Jamie starred in a movie with Tim Conway and Harvey McCormick called “The Great Outdoors.” Jamie loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed waterfalls.
“Jamie’s generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his family.” Jamie’s proud parents are Joe and Christine Brasfield. He has a sister, Mandie Cox, and standing by her side is her husband Dustin Cox and son Ethan Cox. They believe everyone is born into the world to do something unique and something distinctive. Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you deal with it is what makes the difference and the strength that Jamie had given us is the strength to carry on.
One of Jamie’s most fulfilling dreams was to have a family, which was made possible by Mackenzie Brasfield and children Tara Rey and Tayden Brasfield. His poem to Kenzie was “when all goes wrong, and my life goes amok, I think of u, and I get unstuck, in the midst of chaos, u make my heart sing, you’re my peace, my happiness, my everything, love you baby.”
Part of Jamie’s support team included Scott and Trudy Brasfield with children Hunter and Brittney Brasfield and standing by their side were Bow and Katelyn; Robin Mackenzie, an aunt who lives in Phoenix, and by her side were Laura and Ashley; Grandma Marsha Brasfield, with her daughter Sidney Brasfield and by her side Adam and her daughter Amy and husband Cody and children Austin and Siles Jones; parents of Mackenzie, Derek and Sue Cordova and Jenny Woolery, daughter Ariel, Wade and Linda Cox, Jon and Amber Hammond, Darlene Feller, Justin and Crystal Guillotte.
Jamie worked at the Deserado Mine where he touched hearts and had a wonderful support team from co-workers to bosses throughout his struggle with cancer.
Jamie has no pain now, no worry or care, only rest, until the essence of this magic that a new has begun. I celebrate the joy Jamie has brought to many people, remembering happiness and laughter we shared together, cherishing each moment, of his life. In time, much of the pain will pass, leaving only gratitude for the blessed gift of sharing Jamie’s journey.
Bless the spirit of Jamie and now may he rest in peace, knowing that one day we will be together again.
We would like to thank Wade and Linda Cox, Jon and Amber Hammond, Darlene Feller, Justin and Crystal Guillotte, Bow and Katelyn for their support and to all of those who may not have been mentioned. Thank you.
